It is important for you to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form to apply for the types of financial aid made available for student who want to further their education. These financial aids include federal grants, work-study, scholarship, and student loans.
Students and parents are however required to submit the FAFSA application form early when it opens to meet the FAFSA deadline so that they can stand the chance of getting the financial aid on time. Each year, FAFSA opens on October 1 and the FAFSA application 2021-22 and 2022-23 deadlines are June 30, 2022 and June 30, 2023 respectively. In other words, the 2022-2023 FAFSA opened on Oct. 1, 2021. The opening date is the same for all states. If you still need to apply for the financial aid for the 2021-2022 academic year, you can apply until June 30, 2022. June 30 is the deadline issued by the federal government to students applying for the financial aid after the academic year. For example, June 30, 2022, is for the 2021-22 academic year or June 30, 2023, is for the 2022-23 academic year – to file the FAFSA.
The 2021-22 FAFSA form and 2022-23 FAFSA form are available to students and parents to complete online at the official website of fasfa.gov and through the myStudentAid mobile app. In addition, many states and colleges depends on FAFSA information to offer their own grants, loans, scholarship and also make use of this information to determine student’s eligibility for the financial aid. Keep in mind that if you have submitted your application before the deadline, you are offered the opportunity to make any corrections or updates to your FAFSA form.
